opsis architecture

Opsis worked with the Columbia Theatre for the Performing Arts to evaluate the creation of a cultural hub in downtown Longview with the renovation of the Historic Columbia Theater. This project was envisioned as a catalyst for re-invigorating the downtown area while also creating a central place to gather and celebrate the arts and life in Longview. Features of the design included a new marquee with electronic reader board, new lobby spaces, donor room, new and larger restrooms, concession area remodel as well as increasing the capacity of the 1,000 seat theater. The expansion would allow for a new lobby, a 150-seat thrust theater, retail and back-of-house support spaces. The project plan also included expanded dressing rooms, a new electric fly system and grid, state-of-the-art sound and lighting upgrade and full mechanical replacement.
