opsis architecture

The new Student Center and Bookstore at Oregon Health and Sciences University transforms an existing fitness center into vibrant student union space. The Opsis team recognized the opportunity to address the needs of the “whole” student at an institution known for its rigorous study and research. The multi-phase project creates a multi-media room, new lounge, renovated restrooms and ADA upgrades, a new bookstore and game room, and an upgraded gymnasium.

Beginning with an outdated and unused squash court, the team created a state-of-the-art multi-media room for students to relax, take a break from their studying and have social interaction. The space adjacent to the multi-media room functions as a study area and group meeting space. Local artists are invited to display their work and the space becomes an in-between area for informal learning and social interaction. Currently, Opsis is providing seismic upgrades, sprinkler provisions and upgrading the existing gymnasium.
