The 70,000 sf Washakie Center serves as the central dining hall for over 1000 student beds on the east side of campus of the University of Wyoming Campus. The facility also includes, housing offices, tutoring rooms, a computer lab, conference rooms and a ballroom.  The main entry centers on a dramatic two story skylighted atrium that connects together the entire Center’s program areas.  The upper level dining is formatted as a Marche’ concept that creates a series of food islands were students see food freshly prepared to order.  The space is divisible into four sections with sliding glass walls that allow it to expand and contract based on time of day and demand.  The project combined the existing 1965 concrete frame structure demolished down to the basic structure and added a 9,000 sq. ft. new dining hall with dramatic windows to the street and the Chief Washakie sculpture. The Washakie Center serves the student population with dining facilities. For this project, Opsis was design architect with MBA
