Alec has spent over 30 years designing innovative, award winning facilities for educational and civic clients across the country with an emphasis on sustainable design strategies.  His architecture has addressed diverse project types including student unions, libraries, performing arts centers, student recreation centers and classroom buildings. Alec has also led architecture teams in the design of innovative K-12 schools including the LEED Platinum, Net Zero Hood River Middle School Music and Science Building. His expertise also extends to working with historic buildings and campuses. His passion for creating high quality educational environments includes master planning experience including more than ten community college campus master plans, many of which include multi-campus sites. Alec combines exceptional communication skills with in-depth design and technical knowledge working with diverse stakeholder groups to find consensus in an interactive atmosphere. He prides himself on developing close relationships with the communities in which he works, with his clients and their users. Alec’s projects have been recognized with numerous design awards and he has presented at a wide range of regional and international conferences on educational and sustainable architecture.
