Opsis Welcomes Three New Employees and Promotes Two

PORTLAND, OR—July 24, 2019—Opsis Architecture (Opsis) announces our new hires and promotions from the first half of 2019.

Laura Grover, IIDA, LEED AP, joined Opsis as a Senior Interior Designer in May 2019. Before joining Opsis, she worked at SERA Architects, where her experience focused on higher education and government work. With more than 20 years’ experience, Laura places a high value on working and collaborating with clients to develop spaces that reflect their character and identity, in addition to their needs; and is adept at balancing functional requirements, budget and schedule while seeking excellence in design. Outside of work, Laura enjoys traveling, camping and cooking. She is a native Oregonian and is making an intentional effort to introduce her two boys to all the wonders Oregon offers.

Jessica Habel, joined Opsis in June as their Marketing Coordinator. She graduated from Portland State University, with a BA in Advertising Management and a Minor in Graphic Design. Jessica started her career in 2017 at local landscape architecture firm, Shapiro Didway. Opsis is excited to have her join the marketing team; supporting business development, proposal management, website, database and graphic design/branding efforts. Jessica is inspired by years of traveling abroad, art and photography, soul music and the fashion industry.

Jennifer Hoffman, AIA, was promoted to Associate Principal. With more than 17 years’ experience, Jennifer’s talents lie in project management and operations, supported by her sensitivity to clients’ needs and keen ability to listen. She has a wide range of project experience—from affordable, multi-family and intergenerational housing to award-winning projects including higher education, museums and libraries. Influenced by her father who was a printmaker, painter and Professor, Jennifer has cultivated a lifelong interest in the arts.

Carol Long, Opsis’s Marketing Director, was promoted to Associate Principal. Carol is an experienced business development and marketing strategist, with an acute ability to ask the tough questions. Carol excels in strategizing approaches to achieve the firm’s goals and market sectors targets while managing day-to-day, tactical pursuits of marketing and business development opportunities. She recently earned a graduate certificate in Real Estate Development through PSU’s Center for Real Estate. Outside of work, Carol enjoys the exploration of textile arts. 

Kate Walker, LEED AP, was hired as the firm’s Proposal Manager. An organized, results-oriented marketing and communications professional, Kate joins Opsis with more than 12 years of experience in the A/E/C industry. Before joining Opsis, she worked at GBD Architects, with four years in between working in the bicycle industry. Kate is excited to be back in architecture, helping Opsis set a standard in the region for design excellence. Outside of work, she is an avid cyclist and active member in Portland’s bike community.
