Central Grant County Aquatics Center Study

City of John Day

Conceived to replace the only public pool in all of Grant County, the Central Grant County Aquatics Center will be a 7,700 sf facility featuring a six-lane, 25-yard competition pool and a future warm water pool. The new Aquatics Center, to be located in John Day, includes a front lobby and reception area, office space, party room/meeting space, family and individual locker rooms and pool support spaces.

Size: 7,700 sf
Location: John Day, OR

Five Grant County cities came together to find a replacement solution for the failing 62-year old Gleason Pool.

The new facility will initially operate as a seasonal outdoor pool and is designed to be expandable to include all-season recreation with one or both pools covered for year-round swimming in the future. At full build out, the center will offer year-round recreation, with plans for two full-sized ball courts and multi-purpose space. An expanded pool deck space would allow for seating of up to 200 people for events and one or both pools could eventually be enclosed for year-round swimming.
