Idaho Central Credit Union Arena featured in Architectural Products September/October Issue

The Idaho Central Credit Union Arena (ICCU Arena) at University of Idaho is featured in the Architectural Product’s September/October 2022 issue. The “Mass Appeal” feature, by contributing writer Barbara Horwitz-Bennett, highlights the “extraordinary design, engineering and construction that allows mass timber projects to be built taller, larger and with a creative curvilinear footprint.” Inspired by the undulating landscape forms of the Palouse region, the 4,000-seat multi-use Idaho Central Credit Union (ICCU) Arena was designed as a dramatic gateway to the University of Idaho campus. The mass timber design and abundant use of natural light represents a significant break from the traditional steel and concrete sports arena typology.

“As more mass timber projects are undertaken, architects are pushing boundaries that require advanced engineering and new design solutions to realize new levels of efficiency, creativity, and beauty in mass timber development.” – Barbara Horwitz-Bennett, Contributing Writer
